Niessen (2002-03-27) The textile is woven from two identical panels joined along the selvedge edges. The textile is decorated during weaving with warp stripes of indigo, deep red, and lighter yellow-red. Silver metallic yarn is applied along the bottom end of the sarong using the couching technique. A small section of the "waist end" of the sarong is embellished with the same tumpal patterning; perhaps it was the visible section at the waistline. Some discontinuous supplementary weft patterning using metallic yarn is found in the blue stripes. Indigo-coloured warp stripes are embellished with mica chips embroidered on with red and gold yarn. Some chips are elaborated with embroidery using silver yarn. There is a hem at one end, and the other end is unfinished, suggesting that the cloth was cut open to form an oblong.
